Looking for an off the track quarter horse…?

Hi, I live in northeastern Ohio and I am looking for an off the track quarter horse to start on barrels. I would like a decent speed rating, also. Because my location kinda stinks for quarter horse racing, how is the best way to go about finding a retired quarter horse from the track? I am experienced (been riding for 20 years now) but I have no idea how to go about looking for this type of race horse.
you mentioned going to a QH track…are there any in ohio and when is tthe best time to go? thanks.
