Travel to a QH track, and look for horses that end last, or sometimes you will hear an owner shout out a price for horse. But honestly, your best bet is to go to a track, look at a horse has consistently, not done well, or an good one, that is getting up there in the years.

well at my stable we do leases. and u get to ride the horse as much as you want but u have to pay $300 a month plus half the farrier fee. I think that is a reasonable price. hope this helps!!
good luck!!

Moms can be overprotective at times and with your past medical history I can understand her concern but you are growing up and she really can't keep you from doing it when you become an adult. I practiced boxing ever since I was 9 years old and now I am 24 but when I was younger my mom wouldn't let me compete in any matches out of fear of me getting knocked out (ouch, glad she has confidence in me.... oh boy). There's no point in living in fear and life is ALL about risk and you should let your mom know that and tell her you still want to ride.

I have really bad asthma. Like sent to the hospital several times bad. And now that its shedding time its worse. But it seems your as stubborn as I am about horses.
You need to go to the allergist/doctor and get your preventive meds re-checked. I dont use the rescue inhaler until I need it (which is during and after a grooming) even with an ugly face mask on.
The instant you feel your tighting up Stop the horse right away and get down for a puff and a walk around. Dont wait until you cant see straight and your ballance is going.
Something else that helps is to remember to breathe and relax on the horse. Sounds silly but concentrating on that can really help. In out in out..peaceful thoughts.
Let your teacher know your issue and if she wont care or understand then get another teacher.
You will have another attack but the more fit your body is and the more exposure you get over time the less frequent and violent the attacks will be.
I still get attacks after some cantering and dont know it until I've come down to a walk and I feel dizzy. Sometimes I try to be more stubborn that the asthma and ride it out at a walk but it almost always kicks my butt and I have to get down before my face meets the dirt.
Falling when your like this is tricky because your brain and eyes arent working right. Just grab for neck and try to swing down. Dont try to hold on to the horse your fingers wont work right any way.
Focus on taking Deep breaths until you get to the meds.
Walk around on your own feet as soon as you feel it starting to work and get back up after your head is clear.

Be Grateful you can't see horses... for 2 months "open" a horse back riding class and teach others how to ride horses... you're around horses and get the satisfaction of teaching another person how to ride the beautiful animal that you and I absolutely love to ride and even be around....

it can't hurt to ask.
But ask for the job first, you may be able to work there and get paid enough to pay for lessons and have money left over. They may even offer the lessons for free or at a steep discount for an employee.

Yeah I have actually had this experience. And I was using pads at the time. Not great but I still had fun. Anyway, You'll live but barely. If you fill the tampon or pads fast you MAY be able to sneak off the trail for a 30 sec. Or you could tell your mom to stay behind with you (You out of sight of course) That way you won't have to come up with an excuse she can help XD

Don't be afraid to fall off just because you are now cantering - after 2 1/2 years you should have reasonable balance and should be fine.
Most fairly experienced people fall off because their horse does something totally unexpected (such as spook badly), or behaves badly (rears, bucks).
Often there is no time to even think about a 'falling off technique', it just suddenly happens and there is not much you can do to prepare. But when out hacking try and remember to keep hold of the horses rein (if possible) so it doesn't run off and causes accidents. With a bad fall try and curl your body and go into a roll, don't take all your weight with your hands. It is nearly always a bad idea to try and dismount your horse in a canter when you THINK you might fall off - better to hang on there and concentrate on slowing the horse down and get your balance back.
Basic safety precautions are hats, body protectors and safety stirrups.
Long term it is up to you how safely your riding is going to be:
If you mainly school and hack, maybe do some little jumps on a nice horse like the lovely Scottie you might never fall off!
But if you decide to ride green horses, break in youngsters, ride the local stable's 'nutter' because nobody else wants to, do eventing, racing or showjumping, then you have to be prepared to fall off occasionally!
Enjoy riding!
